Our Beliefs
Our Beliefs
The Creed
General statement of our parish philosophy regarding membership and support of the parish.
I believe in one God, Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all ages;
Light of Light, true God of true God, begotten, not created, of one essence with the Father through Whom all things were made.
Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became man.
He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried;
And He rose on the third day, according to the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father;
And He will come again with glory to judge the living and dead. His kingdom shall have no end.
And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Creator of life, Who proceeds from the Father, Who together with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, Who spoke through the prophets.
In one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.
I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the age to come.
Amen.

“Saint Luke Greek Orthodox Church is dedicated to continuing the ministry of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through the proclamation and teaching of the Gospel; and baptism in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.”
“We seek to live as a community of worship, shared faith and service, accepting of all, in loving service to God and mankind, where each member shares freely the gifts and talents received from God.”
Expanding upon our mission and vision to guide the activities of St. Luke Church:
- A welcoming spirit will distinguish our church community. We will be “accepting of all”, making every attempt to warmly embrace and find a place for whomever God brings to us. We will strive to be a church home for all Orthodox Christians and welcome all those seeking spiritual growth.
- Worship: We will be a “community of worship.” Worship and prayer in church services will be the core of our church life. Church services will be understandable, vibrant and approachable, allowing everyone to participate. Personal participation in the singing and prayers of the services will be encouraged; and liturgical education will be emphasized.
- Fellowship: We will seek to live as a real “community of shared faith.” We will build fellowship and unity by having fun together, through regular social activities for all members. We will contribute from our diverse cultural heritages to enhance and add richness to our community life.
- Witness: We will continue “the ministry of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through the proclamation and teaching of the Gospel.” We will encourage and educate the members of St. Luke to help others to become active followers of Christ in the church according to the Orthodox way of life, both through the outreach activities of our local church and through supporting the Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC) throughout the world.
- Service: We will encourage and educate our members to focus their lives “in loving service to God and mankind,” serving God in and through the ministries of St. Luke Church and also serving the needy locally and through groups such as International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC).
- Each member of St. Luke Church will be asked to “share freely the gifts and talents received from God.” We will encourage and educate all our members to be active Orthodox Christians by giving freely of themselves, by volunteering frequently in the ministries of the church and by donating generously from their resources.
